Joey Chestnut Eats Kobayashi

How’s that for sensational blog title? Do people even know what these two personalities do? I don’t know what they do for a living but once a year, they go against each other to see who can eat the most hot dogs (and buns) in 10 minutes. The hot dog is of course, Nathan’s. This event has become an Independence Day tradition in the United States. What’s so special this year is that the Japanese 6-time champion Takeru Kobayashi has been defeated once again by Joey Chestnut, an American. Some people think that an American gettingĀ  the hotdog crown from a foreigner is an act of patriotism. Well, I think more along the lines of indigestion.

This year, both Chestnut and Kobayashi ate swallowed 59 hot dogs after 10 minutes, which led to a “five-dog eat off”. Chestnut eventually prevailed with 66. That’s more than I eat in a year, or perhaps in a lifetime. I don’t know what pushes them to do this act and even if I know, I will never understand.

Here’s a video posted by andrew39611 on Youtube. This is part 1. You can watch part 2 if you are done barfing.
